(Calgary, Alberta) Elson McDougald, Indigena President & CEO is proud to announce the signing of a strategic agreement with Stampede Drilling Inc., a groundbreaking partnership aimed at elevating Indigenous community involvement in Western Canada’s energy sector. “Indigena is the pathway for the Indigenous communities to participate in oil and gas development in a way that is currently not an option for First Nations and will provide stable financial rewards for present and future generations” he said.

Indigena Drilling Inc. is a company formed by industry veterans and backed by a powerful coalition of Indigenous shareholders. Its shareholder base includes 130 First Nations through the IRC Trust and 8 First Nations directly. Operations will be conducted through the Indigena Drilling Limited Partnership which is planned to be controlled by First Nations unit holders ensuring Indigenous leadership and long-term benefits.
Indigena Drilling’s board of directors consists of Stephen Buffalo, Chairman, with directors Elson McDougald, Jeff McCaig, Andy Popko, Chief Darcy Dixon and Chief Greg Desjarlais. Terry Munro is standing for election at the shareholders meeting on September 25, 2025. Stampede Drilling is a drilling contractor with a very strong performance and safety record and has 17 rigs working in Western Canada.
